This is a great cause to support and all the proceeds stay right here in CNY!

This tournament is an important reminder of the consequences that can occur when mixing drinking with driving.  It is the only on-going annual sporting event in CNY to support this cause, which is near and dear to so many families who have lost their loved ones to this preventable decision.

This tournament has been held annually since 2006, when Bill Leaf, a former news and sports reporter for WSYR radio and WTVH television, was killed by a drunk driver who was traveling the wrong way on Interstate 81.  Leaf died instantly in the head-on crash.  Since 2008, the tournament has also helped sustain the memory of Samantha Reynolds, a teenager who was also killed in a head-on crash involving a drunk driver.  She and her family were driving to Disney World for their spring break vacation in 2008.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Bill Leaf Memorial Scholarship at Syracuse University and Samantha Reynolds Scholarship at Liverpool High School.  Leaf attended SU and Henninger High School while Reynolds attended Liverpool HS.

The tournament is a constant reminder of how each one of us can make a difference by making the right decision if we decide to take a drink.  Please drive responsibly or ask a friend to come pick you up.  It can and will save lives!

Tournament Details

The Tournament is held at The Syracuse Kickball Park located On RT 57 only 1 mile away from Onondaga Lake Park. The official address is 7192 Oswego Rd. The Park is directly across from the Fastrac Gas Station and is formerly known as The Liverpool Driving Range and Mini Golf.

Any questions about the park feel free to email info@syracusesportsassociation.com or call us 315-446-5686.

The Kickball Park has 6 permanent kickball fields and ample parking close to the fields. The fields also have home run fences.

  • We use a double elimination format, so all teams in the tourney are guaranteed at least 2 games.
  • There are 2 divisions!  Beginners and Intermediate! Pick which level best suits your team.  That's right, 2 tournament champions!!!
  • Raffle Items will be offered, including:
  • More raffles will be listed here where there confirmed.
  • The registration fee is still only $25.00 cash/check per player. (+2.00 credit/debit card fee)
  • There will also be a special corporate rate offered to teams that have a company sponsor.  Corporate teams will get their team's name or logo printed on the back of their T-shirts.
  • Every player who registers gets a tournament T-shirt (color selected by team captain).
  • Cam's Pizzeria is returning as our lunch sponsor with the Cam's Pizza-mobile.  Hot pizza served right at the fields!  Cam's will also have salads and other alternative lunch choices.
  • Dunkin Donuts will once again provide breakfast for all participants.  Enjoy some coffee, bagels and donuts in the morning as the tournament begins.
  • DJ Jeff Wise will once again provide music throughout the tournament.
  • Teams must have at least 9 players, of which 2 must be female.  (If you are an all-male team, you may play, but will have to incur a disadvantage while batting for two of your players.)
  • While there is a limit to how many players may be on the field at any given time which is 10, there’s no limit to the total number of players on a team.  Subbing is encouraged!
  • All players must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Because this is a charity event, there are no refunds.  It is a rain or shine event.

The tournament begins at 9:30am, but players are encouraged to arrive at The Syracuse Kickball Park in Liverpool by 9:00am to have ample time to check-in and enjoy breakfast before their first game.  The better you play, the longer you stay, and the tournament is expected to wrap up by 5:00pm.
